I want to take this opportunity to say that we are excited to be a part of the Jamestown Baptist Church again. I know it has been some months that we have been serving and Covid-19 has interrupted the normal church process and fellowship. I want all of you to know Martha and I are committed to you. We are excited for the future of Jamestown Baptist Church. We know the Lord has great things in store as we all seek to follow and serve him.
I would like to ask several things of you as we seek to unify and bring renewal and revival to the church:
1.) Above all make prayer for your church and your leadership a high priority in your life. I have always wished I could get church members praying as much as they complain and criticize. Remember the Word tells us to “Pray without ceasing.” 1 Thessalonians 5:17
2.) Get in the Word. Read your Bible. Find the answers to life’s issues by consulting with the owner’s manual. “All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness.” 2 Timothy 3:15
3.) Be faithful to the church. It is important that we come together and worship. “Not forsaking the assembling or ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as see the day approaching.” Hebrews 10:25
4.) Be a good witness for the Lord and your Church. Begin to tell people about Jesus. Do not talk about the stuff happening at the church. People need life and hope and we need to make sure that is what they hear coming from our mouth. “Let no corrupt communication proceed out of your mouth, but that which is good to use of edifying, that it may minister grace under the hearer.” Ephesians 4:29
Now I could certainly go on but let’s start with four. Listen our hope is in the promises of the Lord. We need to keep this in perspective. One day this time on earth will be over. Only the things we have done for Christ will last. Be an obedient Christian. The Lord will bless you more than you will know.
Hope to see this Sunday!
